With a SPHERIK carbon wheel set you can be lighter and more aerodynamic compare to any other wheel set. The exclusive monocoque constructions give a much greather stiffness and reduce the weight by 10% to 15% compare to the other carbon rim in the market. The SPHERIK rim is not made in section bounded together like other rim. The SPHERIK rim is made of one piece included the rim brake section. That technology is not only better but it increase the solidity of the wheels by eliminating the junction and the weakness in the rim. Because of that construction rider weight can go to 110kg without any problem.
In fact the carbon allowed you to make a higher profile of rim increasing the aerodynamic. Also the carbon constructions give you the possibility to increase the stiffness of the rim. So with carbon you can have a stiff rim laterally so when you push hard on the pedal the power transfer is maximized bout on the other way the rim adsorb more vibration so you have a much more comfortable ride. Much lighter, more aerodynamic, much stiffer and more comfortable this is what you will get with SPHERIK carbon wheel set.

Why SPHERIK carbon wheel set brake efficiency is so good compare to other carbon wheel set?

Historically carbon wheel set are not the best choice when it’s time to speak about braking performance. With the SPHERIK carbon wheel we change that to a point that we reach the same braking performance as aluminum rim. A patent construction of carbon and ceramic in the braking surface section allowed to reach an ultra high braking heat of 240° without affecting the structure of the rim. We develop a new generation of brake pad compound that also increase the braking result. That new compounds reduce heat friction and increase braking power without burning the brake pad.

Why wider rims are better?

A wider rim is everything. SPHERIK clincher carbon rim have a width of 24mm (except 23mm for the 40mm front wheel). That dimension is similar to the width of road tire that most of the road rider use (23mm or 25mm). Because the rim and the tire are the same width you decrease the drag. The smaller air flow over the wheel increase aerodynamic by reducing drag. So you can go faster or you can keep the same speed with least effort.
Another benefit is the better handling of the bike. With a wider rim the clincher tire became a little bit bigger by spreading the side of the tire. This improves handling of the bike by keeping the consistency of the tire shape when you take a curve and mostly during hard turns.
Because of the tire shape is different you also decrease the rolling resistance because you have more surface contact and by that fact least pressure per mm square. More the tire keep is shape better is the comfort of the ride. By keeping is round shape much more the tire can absorb the vibration much better. You also decrease significantly the chance to make pinch flat.
We suggest to use 23mm or 25mm tire. With 23mm you have the maximal performance and rolling resistance. With 25mm you increase the comfort on rough road. A good combination is a 23mm front tire and a 25mm rear tire.

The rim is not the only important part in a very good wheel set. The spoke are the frame of the wheel and they are crucial in the performance of the wheel set. We use a straight pull butted aero spoke made of Sandvik T302 stainless steel. Those double butted spoke using a patented cold forge with cold drawn technology. That allowed to reduce the weight by 30% without compromising the strength. Each spoke weight 4.3gr (weight for 260mm spoke) and had on the threat a locktite coating that increase durability and stability of the spoke.
Each spoke are attach to a new version of nipple call external DSN nipple. That patented nipple give a longer thread contact between the nipple and the spoke and by that fact a much better traction force.

The SHERIK hub is made of 7075 aluminum and specially design to fit strait pull spoke. The strait pull spoke are lighter and also very stiff. That design allowed a larger cassette side spoke drive and by that fact reduce torque. The front 20 holes hub is equip with 2 sealed bearing for a total weight of 92g .

The SHERIK hub is made of 7075 aluminum and specially design to fit strait pull spoke. The strait pull spoke are lighter and also very stiff. That design allowed a larger cassette side spoke drive and by that fact reduce torque. The rear 24holes hub have 4 sealed bearing for a total weight of 194gr. The SPHERIK cassette body (Shimano/SRAM or Campagnolo) is equipped with 2 sealed bearing for a torsion force.
